Question: Best Place To Ski In Utah?
Hey, I’ve been skiing before in Wisconsin, have never fell off ski’s in my life, but this weekend I’m going to Utah with my dad. We don’t know if we should go to Brighton, Deer Valley, The Canyons, or Park City Resort. Were staying in a hotel in park city, and we plan on going to more than one resort. Please help me decide which resort would be best for me. I’m a beginner/intermediate but I don’t want boring runs. I LOVE speed! Thanks!

Well, are you going to have transportation? If you’re staying in Park City, obviously that mountain is right there, and Deer Valley is right next door. Both are pretty good mountains for beginners and intermediate skiers. Deer Valley also has some pretty decent tree skiing and the best food at any ski resort I’ve ever been to.

If you will have a car and can get around, head up to Snowbird and Alta. Since you’re still developing your skills, I’d stick with Snowbird for now. Its a great mountain, lots of varied terrain, and some good intermediate runs – also, lots of chutes, gullies, trees, etc. So you’ll stay occupied.

Question: Is it better to visit Park City, Utah in December or February for a ski/snowboarding trip?
A family friend just moved out to Salt Lake City and have invited us to visit anytime we want. I have school breaks at Christmas time and late February, and was wondering which time is a better time, factoring in ski conditions/weather, general airfare prices from NYC, and crowds. Also which are the best places to ski/board, as some of the family skis, and other snowboard.

You would be better off to come in Feb. Christmas is always busy. The snow is deeper in February, and there are fewer people on the mountains because they are getting sick of winter by then.

Brighton is great if you want to ski and board. The Canyons is great as well. If you want a smaller non tourist type resort try Beaver Mountain near Logan. It is smaller, but not very much $ $ $ and never crowded

I was thinking about a ski vacation over New Years. Just how busy is Park city over new years? I usually don’t go this time of year, but an opportunity is knocking. Dates I was thinking about would be from Dec 27-Jan 3. Thanks

Well I went there in February and their is always a decent amount of people at the ski resorts and the citizens say it gets more crowded every year (watch out for moose)

Im going to Park City, Utah July 4th. Is it funn there? what can u do there? do u get good calling? Where is there shopping thats good? PLZ HELP! anything would help! alot! thnx!

There are LOADS of places to shop in Park City but the one I recommend is Tanger Outlet. It is an outlet mall outside of Park City (near the walmart in Kimball junction). Its high-end stores (9 west, Levi Straus, etc) on a budget. A lot of the shopping IN park city is very expensive (inculding dining), but I guess that depends on how much you are willing to spend. Park City isn’t very car friendly so park at the VERY top of main street in the parking garage or lot and just walk down Main street and window shop. Park City golf course also has very good fireworks shows. They let you basically just hang out and do whatever on the golf course and the show usually starts around 10:00, but get there by 8:30 for good pick of the lawn.
There is also the Alpine Slide, coaster, and other carnival-like things at Park City mountain resort.
