Nevada has BAD water. Do the restaurants filter the water they serve to customers?

Question: Nevada has BAD water. Do the restaurants filter the water they serve to customers?
Two of Nevada’s largest gambling Meccas, Reno and Las Vegas, are in the top 5 US cities with the worst drinking water. I learned of this sobering fact after having spent several days in Reno eating and drinking with relish and gustgo. After returning home, I plopped down in front of the TV and turned on the news. After a few minutes, I heard something that made my stomach turn! The water in Reno and Las Vegas was so bad it made the evening news! I jumped on my laptop and and found a national water testing agency: The Environmental Working Group. Their report verified what I had heard on the news and listed all the poisons and chemical toxins in sordid detail! My mind flashed back to Reno where mere hours ago I sat in a restaurant. Critically, I relived the moment a waitress placed what appeared to be a sparkling clean glass of water and a cup of Joe on the table. There were no warning labels on the glass or cup…there were no signs urging customers to beware of ingesting liquids here due to carcinogens, pesticides and arsenic known to be floating in our water! Mandatory filtration and reverse osmosis should be the minimum water treatment requirements for hotels and restuarants , especially where testing has shown problems that could have dire consequences on the health of innocent people. Now, I return to my original question: Do restaurants gamble with the health of their customers by refusing to take measures to ensure that we are not exposed to chlorinated, toxic tap water after we leave home and enter their domain!

White water rafting – weight limit? How hard is it physically? What fitness level is needed for 1/2 day trip?

Question: White water rafting – weight limit? How hard is it physically? What fitness level is needed for 1/2 day trip?
I am going white water rafting with my family, but my mom is worried about weight limit for herself & that she isn’t physically fit enough. My mom has no mobility problems and she works on her feet all day long. She is able to do mild-moderate hikes without difficulty. She doesn’t have any health problems, but she is overweight. I am trying to put her mind at ease, but I am not having any luck when looking on rafting websites. So, yahoo! public, what do you know?

Are there ever weight limits for the average 1/2 day rafting trip? What are they?
What kind of physical fitness level is needed?

Any information related to fitness/weight and rafting would be appreciated. I really want my mom to join the family on this trip!

Answer by Barry M
No offence but how big is your mom? Tell her that it is a blast and she has got to go. I have never heard of any weight restrictions except that you have to be at least 90lbs to hit the class 4 and 5 rapids, and it doesn’t sound like that is a problem. As far as physical strain is concerned there are usually 8 to 12 people in a raft her input will not be missed. Just have her in between two stronger paddlers. I have been on several trips and there are usually at least 3 or 4 people in the raft that do very little paddling. Mention it to your guide and he will make sure to put her in a position that is insignificant. Mom if you’re reading this “Go for it!” you won’t regret it.

Question: Mongaup River white water rafting?
Hi,

I am interested in white water rafting with my family at Mongaup River. I have never done white water rafting before so I want to know if, in your opinion, is suitable for a first-time family rafting trip. We are going on our own with no guide. we all know how to swim. We are looking for something with a little bit of excitement while not too crazy. Any comment will be greatly appreciated.

p.s if you know of any other river suitable for my family that will also be great!

Cheers

Answer by David E
From the description, it sounds like it’s continuous rapids – not hard, but if someone falls out it could be some time before you get them back in. It would be best to not go alone if you can find another group of people who are running the river. There may be a private whitewater rafting club in your area that could help with that.

Make sure to wear personal flotation devices – swimming in a river without one is not easy. Also, try to ask around to find out if the river level is considered high or low or moderate. I’ve seen people get onto rivers that they thought should be easy and then flip within 100 feet of starting and realize that they were in way over their head.

Typhoon Lagoon is definitely the most beautiful, a tropical paradise. This is nothing like the typical water parks have slides with exposed structures and wave pools that look like huge concrete tanks. It is not perhaps the most, sliding the fastest or the highest, but it has the largest surf pool with waves up to six meters high, which is the basis of the one hundred foot synthetic high mountain watershed and forest on a sandy beach and lush tropical . Ketchakiddee surrounded Creek, is a playground for small children with small slides and water games. There are features that spray water all over with a tractor and a mixture of whales and seals throughout the playground. A small sandy beach is also planned.

Typhoon Lagoon Humunga Kowabunga that moves at speeds up to 30 mph will be a closed three slides and passed through caves in this 214-foot adventures. It also has a different spirit, or rolling tremor is. Keel Haul Falls. It’ll hop aboard your innertube and slide one of the “soft foam” slides, through caves, waterfalls and special effects route.

Typhoon Lagoon features two separate inner tube rides, a huge lazy river, a huge wave pool, toddler area, two types of blades for the body, mountain water, swim with live fish snacks, drinks and lunch or bring your own . He has great seats for the celebration of the best group. Take an underwater camera and you have an interesting experience, adding to coral reefs and other marine organisms. Rush for snorkeling in the blades and pool water. Roast turkey is easy and foolproof for the new high-Rotisserie Flamberg La Cornue

.

Brisbane, CA (openPR) 6 October 2010

With the new high-roast at home, frying the Thanksgiving turkey is now much less stress. No more dried Turkey, if customers are late or longer at the sides than expected. In addition to the production of extremely moist and juicy Turkey, cook on the high-La Cornue Rotisserie Flamberg has the advantage of very simple and practically foolproof.

is the most important step to ensure that the bird in a hot pan, one goes, the long pre-heated for 10 to 12 minutes.

itâ? s after Larissa Taboryski culinary director for Purcell Murray, exclusive distributors in North America’s High La Cornue Flamberg rotisserie. It regularly rates in the showroom here and invite chefs to a variety of techniques.

enjoys the rotisserie Flamberg because ATI cooking? s easy and accessible, regardless of user? s level of expertise. â? And the turkey is like nothing youâ? I never had before, â? She notes.

La Cornue gas

Flamberg that only 32 cm deep by 15 cm square measures is the first and only UL rotisserie, which can be integrated in a home kitchen.

Why

Rotisserie produce results as attractive? Food scientists have recently discovered that the initial burden of high heat broke open molecules taste in food so that it tastes delicious. â? That’s what the rotisserie â, want? Taboryski notes, â? but it must be very hot, otherwise, Turkey is a little> flabby.â ????

Flamberg is preheated long for about 10 to 12 minutes. â? ATI? always better food in a warm environment, a put? The chef recommends. Then, the pen is loaded and turkey for about 15 minutes.

â? It takes a long time to taste molecules to open? Taboryski said. â? the hiss is powerful.â? Then the temperature to medium and roast Turkey fell regularly. Cooking times for a total of 12 lbs. Turkey is about half past one. And no stitching required. And no pan to scrub.

â? Brining is ideal for adding flavor, but it loses moisture so little with this type of cooking that is not necessary â? Taboryski advises. â? To add flavor, dry rub seasonings before Turkey mixed with kosher salt day, so that the flavors penetrate the meat. In the same manner it into the grill> South.â ????

while the bird is stuffed, Taboryski proposes putting the garlic cloves, sliced Meyer lemon or even orange wedges into the cavity.

bird remains moist because it is self-watering. It does not sign, although brown, because with the Flamberg, the flame never touches the food. Instead of synthetic fibers pull the flame and keep at the back of the concave grating very hot iron. So all cooks indirectly by radiant heat.

Flamberg Rotisserie can be very forgiving. â? If customers are late can slow you by another half or three quarters of an hour without drying of food because of the water itself, â? Taboryski emphasized. Either the heat can be rejected, or the adjustable pin can be pulled forward.

itâ? is easy to cook monitored. But at the same time, once Turkey is on, you donâ? T have to watch or worry, “said the boss. Thus, the cook to prepare concentrate side and enjoy the company of guests.

Clean is fast. The foods are not projections, and porcelain in all the juice collects record. The pin, necklaces, and all the flat to go in the dishwasher.

California Delta is a paradise for water recreation

0

If you’ve ever driven south through the Central Valley in California, you were probably surprised to see an ocean freighter its way into Stockton.

However, ships that do not ask, in Stockton – and for decades – as they make their way into the state through a complex of waterways, sometimes called the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta or Delta Sacramento, or simply the delta of California. The fact is that Delta is not unlike what you see in the deep south and in fact there are surprising connections between Louisiana and the delta of California. Who can testify Isleton Crawdad Festival for his famous visit.

It is also eerily similar to roads and towns near New Orleans, where levees keep the river to flood in the country. In this case, it is not the Mississippi that you are worried, but the confluence of Sacramento and San Joaquin, a system of transporting water for 47 percent of runoff in California purchased. The majority of land in the delta below sea level, under a rule 9:00 p.m. to 3:00 meters.

Lots of water means lots of free time for the inhabitants of the water dry valley of San Joauin who enjoy boating in this area and visit the interesting small towns throughout the Delta.

The delta region covers 738 000 hectares in six counties, so you can apparently wander for years without a solution found. We recall once shipping costs in the delta houseboat, where our charts are the only way to ensure that we never hear again.

But of course, is to call the California Delta. Voyager in the Delta is a quick trip to the San Francisco Bay. Finally, one of the largest cities in the Delta, Antioch, especially from people living in the delta region and along every day in San Francisco. From there you can only cross a bridge and suddenly you’re on the loneliness of the two-lane roads along the canals and dams driving, turning in all directions until that is, explore it and another small town to check off your list.

In our recent trip to the Delta, we decided to spend the night in some rather unusual “waterfront” housing: a 40-foot yacht with its own dock Blue Water located at the confluence of Georgiana Slough and Mokelumne River. Botel at Kai Isleton address, but it is one of the places you call for directions. The owner will be happy and be there to greet you because they in a house just a few meters from the shore platform resides.

It was a great base for operations in the delta region and an excellent choice if you are on land and enjoy the sounds of waves and water as easily. We had the dock to us and two chairs are perfect in the dock for fishing, reading newspapers, watching the sunset or just all the scenery and sounds, creeks of the delta.

A 40-foot boat is a boat a good size and a chance for non-sailor to see how it would be a great boat for regular outings. You’ll not to drive anywhere because this boat will be rented as a floating hostel bed and breakfast, but it is more expensive than staying in a room in a house. The ship has a living area, kitchen (kitchen), a cabin with two lower berths, a head (bathroom), and many from space to sit on the back deck. . (Note for the country: the sailors know that the heads are a little temperamental and this is not an exception)

Breakfast is delivered to your door at all, if you prefer and we were a combination of well-prepared hearty French bread, sausage, eggs and two kinds of juice. We were impressed by the amount of food for what we impressed as nominal rent by the night. Cheap B and B are more likely to give you a cinnamon bun and send in your way.

While there are several small towns that are easily accessible by car enjoyed, we Isleton especially when you start the connection to Louisiana. We learn that Louisiana residents are actually living here and they seem a little Cajun spice bring this right to them. Discover the Isleton Crawdad used to Joe or Ernie or, better yet, plan your trip for the Crawdad Festival in June each year is even though you caught in the Delta crayfish, thousands of crawfish shipped into Louisiana from – Pre-spicy -. For the festival

We traveled many roads in the Delta, where we found many marinas, each dine with a restaurant and several variations of water. There were state parks, where it was easy to remove and find a place for a picnic on the canal. It was a drawbridge, which were ideal for photos. And T is funny to see the many variations of boats that the situation of inland navigation on our visit, even from the 19th Century sailing vessel is offered in the Marina of Antioch. go

along Highway 60, you will encounter different cities – Isleton, Rio Vista, Locke, Walnut Grove and Ryde – everyone gives you a taste of life in the Delta region and the history, that this unusual destination created. Find out the restoration Ryde Hotel, south of Walnut Grove, where you can almost hear the voices of the celebrants who once traveled here by boat paddle. Or stop in Rio Vista, as the largest city in these areas with 5,000 people. Bass fishing is where the central annual Bass Festival attracts 35 000.

We could not from the Delta, without climbing on the boat – a boat that actually moved, that is – when we fell from H2O to Go Boat Rentals, located between the cities of Rio Vista and Lodi and rented our own 17-foot runabout for a few hours. It was a newer model (almost new, in fact) bowrider that in several places along the estuary of the river that took us a whole new perspective of the Delta is accelerating. In fact, we came across one of these freighters headed for Stockton. He repeated a little more
travelers conducted by the highway have been panic.
AT A GLANCE />
WHERE: The California Delta is usually between Stockton and Sacramento and then south-west is northwest to Antioch or Suisun Bay. It is easily accessible from all areas.

WHAT: The California Delta is where the Sacramento and San Joaquin rivers converge the runoff from the Central Valley by a canal from San Francisco Bay, then to the Pacific Ocean. There are actually a number of islands in this area, all created by natural and artificial channels. The dikes in the region have allowed the extensive agriculture in the Delta and boating in the delta area feels like your boat ride through the fields.

WHEN: The boat is the best in the summer months, but a temperate climate allows for recreation and travel in this area any time of the year

. WHY: The rivers in the delta are unique and fun to explore the diversity of cities, ports, parks, lodges and restaurants, house complements the attraction
