Question: What’s a good way to speed up a computer? (besides putting it on wheels and sliding it down the freeway)?
I thought maybe buying additional memory would do it, but is there a better way?

Now mind you, not an EASIER way – because I’ve seen those websites that declare that they can speed up your computer, and do exactly the opposite.

Any ideas, suggestions, comments (keep em clean, please)?

The most cost effective way to get a dramatic boost would be to upgrade your memory.

You could also reformat your computer and do a clean install, won’t be a dramatic boost, but it’s always nice to clean the pipes out once in a while.

I honestly have zero experience with tegus. I can say however that some Savs are nice and some are mean. Some Savs appear to be the sweetest things…..usually it’s entirely luck of the draw and/or valiant attempts at “taming”. Imprinting docileness is easier with “newborns” than adults. I don’t recommend Savs unless you have a lot of experience in reptiles and are really comitted toward owning one at keeping it at optimal health (should be the goal of any pet really….but monitors especially).

Ackies, however are amost always really “tame”. Ackies are definately my # 1 recommendation to 1st time monitor owners. Their price tag may initailly be larger, but it’s worth it…….you get what you pay for.

I’ll star this question and VARANID will undoubtedly come and save the day.

The recent changes in baggage fees that some airlines introduced makes this a horribly complicated question. You mentioned neither origin, destination, nor airline – let alone the type of ticket you bought to fly to college. You haven’t even stated what countries are involved! The rules in Minnesota are a little different than the rules in Moldova – or Mongolia. The 1st link is just an example of how ridiculous the rules have become.

The fact that you used the word “college” instead of “university”, and you used the word “economic” ungrammatically, both lead me to believe you are American, so I’ll try to answer based on that assumption. Just try to remember in the future that “assume” is spelled A5S-U-ME. Try to supply all the required details in the future.

You will need a certain minimum of personal effects with you; how minimum will be dictated by the airline’s baggage policy. In the example with Delta Airlines, the US$ 15 fee for a 50 lb (23 kg) suitcase with up to 62″ total dimensions is a good bargain – I would use it. Weigh and measure your bag before leaving and make sure you stay under the weight limit, or the $ 15 fee will become $ 105. Overweight and oversize both will cost you $ 280. I would also make full use of the carry-on bag: put a couple days’ staples in that – your checked bag might get lost for a day or 2. The max weight of 40 lb is less important than the max dimensions: approximately 22″x14″x9″.

Anything extra I suggest shipping. Again: I cannot make specific recommendations because you gave us too little information. Use links 2, 3, and 4 to calculate the cost of your packages. Have weight and dimensions available, as well as the zip code of origin and destination.

My wife and I are staying at kamoale sands near Kihei, I haven’t planned any activities to do yet but want to know how to get around the island. We aren’t planning on car rentals for the whole week. Any advice?

If you aren’t planning on renting a car, plan on hanging around your hotel a lot. Maui is a big place with lots of things to do. If you want to get the most out of your Maui vacation, you’ll definitely want a vehicle. I would recommend a Jeep or some sort of truck. It makes it easier lugging around all your beach gear..towels, snorkels, beach chairs, etc.

You’re gonna be staying in Kihei, which is ok, but there are so many better baches down in Wailea and up on the west side by Lahaina, not to mention Hana. If you want to venture anywhere around the island you’ll need transportation and taxi’s get expensive. If you are thinking bus…forget about it. You’ll definitely be thankful you rent a car for the whole time you are there once you get there. Half the fun is driving around the island exploring.

P.S. Pack some warm clothes so you cn see the sunrise on top of the volcano Haleakala…definitely worth the early morning trip, but it get COLD up there. Like 30′s -40′s 10k+ feet above sea level.

I have really bad bags and dark shadows under my eyes which age me alot, they seem to run in my family. Does anyone know of any good creams to get rid of them or some kind of cover up. Thanks

If it’s genetic, creams won’t get rid of it unless they lighten the pigment underneath your eye… plus they don’t work; plain and simple, save your money. Instead, make sure you aren’t making them worse by getting as much sleep as you possibly can. Sleep comes before TV shows and checking you email, so make time! And try cool compresses for ten mins, like cucumber slices, cooled tea bags and ice cubes. They can reduce swelling. Instead of caking on concealer, get a light pink or almost white illuminating pencil and just lighten things up. Instead of making it skin colored, it just bounces off light and makes you look WIDE AWAKE. Hope this helps & good luck. : )

Question: What’s a good weekend away in West Java?
My boyfriend and I live in Central Jakarta, he works full time so I don’t want to take up any of his leave days. We’d like a weekend away from Jakarta, somewhere reachable within 4 hours drive. We don’t mind satelite cities such as Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, and Bekasi, but prefer going a bit further away.

Here are some points of what we’re looking for:
- open nature, fresh air, unpolluted environment
- easy to find local foods
- safe and practical place to park the car, because we plan to walk long distances
- a lake or garden would be a huge plus… please specify if it would be possible to swim, or if there are other light activities we could do for bonding.

We prefer a day trip (leaving before daybreak and coming back late at night). But in case that might be too tiring, we would appreciate information on affordable accomodations, single room rates because we will be in separate rooms.

I guess that’s all. Just a weekend away without that much distractions, at a romantic and refreshing place, getting inspired to learn a myriad more about our loved one.
