Well, I know they used Square Sails. Rudder, Ballast, those things. I tried to find you a helpful link. The link I give is Viking Long-ships, maybe it get you in the right direction.

Also, where it mention “Clinker” built, I not think the sailboats you study used this type hull.
Here may be a better link. Also, check for References at the bottom;

What is the best way to build a sail boat – buy wooden sail boat kit or from scratch using a map of sailing?
0When I checked the wooden sailboat kits online I was surprised, amazed at how high the prices -. and the kits do not include the sails and rigging of boats pocket 15 ‘, I found a kit that includes 400, after adding the rigging talk, we was more, 000 € for a kit 15′ sailing boat made of wood I do not know what the shipping would be -. but I know he will not be cheap and the price would only rise. It was the price I wanted to spend.
So I decided to take another route, and I started watching boat plans instead of online, I found myself for only 24 ‘sailing boat able way shocked feet (no trailer) -.. The plans cost of 0! It seems too expensive and was only for a set of plans. What if I wanted to pull a boat behind my boat, so I can anchor offshore to build, but have access to the shore without getting wet? I could also anchor the boat off the line from my yacht and find that special fishing spot, where the great Lunkers to hang like – and get a sail boat at this point might be a bit riskyare <. p> So I was glad on this site, which offers slightly more than 200 boats building plans and I can download it directly to my computer or get them sent me on DVD to find. What’s really cool the guy who was together achieve these plans, the construction of vessels over 20 years – he is also an excellent wood craftsman and comes from a long line of ancestors who built boats
.
His ancestors were Vikings and most people know early that they not only known for their skill in shipbuilding, but to go to several places in their boats. We think they have even discovered America before Columbus, based on what you read the history books. would like
I the idea of a complete library on my computer every boat I have to build for less than 1 / 5 the price of a single plane sailing boat tail -. He has plans for cruising yachts, canoes, rafts, dory-like, duck boats, canoes, hydro, Jon boats, kayaks, rowboats, runabouts interior, pedal paddle steamers, fishing boats, runabouts from on-board boats, sail boats, ski boats, rowing boats, motor boats , boats, surfboards, utility boats, yachts and wooden boats. All this is from a man over 20 years experience in boat building. For me, with a simple kit -. you will not know if you consider all that you have received the list of materials – and you are with the products they send What happens if you forget something and not put all the pieces you send. There is nothing more frustrating than buying a set for the missing parts to find. Therefore, you should buy a plan to buy and use the list of devices on my own equipment is something I like. It is my form of quality control. I know what I am because I am going to buy all the parts! The other thing is:. Why do not I do not have money to impress everyone by asking them how much is something I actually prefer to do-it-impress me, myself and hold my wife happy with what I’m capable of. It gives me a secret pleasure to know that I have to build something, buy from the ground up for far less than someone else may be new or used or constructed from a kit. I will put the kits for models and toys. Quality is the deciding factor when I build for myself. It is my form of quality control! If there’s anything wrong with what I built, I can fix and I do not ticked because someone else to get screwed up! Owner of a boat with a wooden sailboat plans
0Sailboats
are sometimes in other films and TV programs to see which float on the river are. Sometimes they are smaller than a ferry or boat, but still very effective on the journey through the waters. These types of boats have usually say sailing or as few people would hang rags on the boat. These sails are particularly useful in changing the direction of the ship or if it must go faster. Wooden sailboat plans are important, if someone sees a sail boat as a means of transportation on water.
Some wooden sailboat plans are too complex for the novice boat builder. A sailing boat can develop a design and can be difficult to meet alone. Get advice from an experienced boat builder or support may be possible the problem to alleviate build a sail boat. There are manufacturers that offer kits sailboat with all the necessary parts to create. Wood and some other parts are already cut to the specifications of the boat. These kits sailboat is fit to be easier because it would not measure and cut. Sincewooden sailing boats are often used for a long time, so it is important that we review security plans wooden sailing boat, in which he is interested. If you are able to provide the necessary equipment is obtained, it will be able to save more money compared to buying ready-made yacht.

4 thoughts on building a small wooden trimaran
0I like small trimarans of all sorts. This means that the trimarans are available for commercial purchase or construction plans craft (provided, of course, good plans are used). This also includes trimarans in GRP (glass reinforced plastic) or wood / epoxy.
I am on my blog.
The allure of wood building, however, speaks for many do-it-yourself because of the perception that timber ships are still a cheaper way of acquire a sailboat in the sort term. This is not necessarily so.
The construction costs are to date.
These boats fiberglass to build precisely to emphasize the cost of marine grade plywood, combined with the generally high cost of epoxy, can put the dollar amounts for wooden building at eye level with fiberglass. Not only that, but when took time and money in the long-term relationship for maintenance costs, many home builders slope instead of fiberglass timber.
I understand where they come from. All facts must be taken into consideration. But in this sense, I’m just a few reasons why I did not like the idea of building small trimarans wooden. Here are 4 thoughts to weigh:
– When we were discussing “big sailing trimaran here so maybe not read this article on the construction of wooden boats. This is not the wood itself, but the job of a boat “big” is a project that I probably would not want to fight by myself (and I have much experience in dealing with wood).
We are not talking big but trimarans. We speak mainly fast, small boats that offer day fun for single sailors, 2 partners, or a small group. (The only exceptions are the “Weekend” trimarans that include a small cabin in their design).
While a wooden boat requires more care than fiberglass ensure the long-term vision for their health, the cost of time or money is not huge. A little effort and care can go a long way, especially if you properly store a home built wooden small trimaran from rain and sun.
– The design options for wood building are good. Of the current crop of plans available out there, I saw a beautiful design options for smaller trimarans that incorporate wood… and it relates to plans beautiful old market, in addition to the most recent. Whether you use a small boat or trailer able to walk in the range 20 feet a bit, there are affordable plans offered by reputable designers readily accessible.
– you can probably build a trimaran with wood much easier and much less time than a fiber glass. This is probably the most attractive factor for wood when comparing the different approaches to construction.
After reviewing the requirements fiber glass for things such as tracing, mold, pistols, etc., forums Wooden Construction-boat, Stitch and glue construction start teaching are very, very interesting – at least they do for me. (Manufacturer Boat Sat Devlin provides an excellent S / G summary on his website, if you’re interested).
If you have lots of experience building with fiberglass already then this is not the case for you. But overall, I think seems likely for someone who has never built a boat before the law.
– you can build with cheap wood before building more expensive, polished version with either cons-plated marine grade expensive or fiberglass. One might think: “Why?” But it can not be a bad idea. Why not something like this… especially for a small sailboat?
Buy a couple of plans for a small trimaran you are almost sure to this time, and then create a “cheaper” version of them with low quality wood and other materials, so you can decide if you really like. What I mean is essentially the construction of a scale model of a boat you do not need to worry about making perfect.
You could build that offers a boating experience to test things. .. concerned before shelling out more money for the very project. You can also part of the experience of real boat building in the world to his credit and very familiar with the boat you imagined that you really want in the process .
A boat builder has considered this idea in a recent interview (currently featured for download on our website). In my opinion, these experts do things in perspective when he ‘s acts to build boats with wood – including small trimaran sailboats.

Wooden Sailboat Kits — Are They Better Than Building From Scratch?
0A wooden sailboat kit can be quite expensive ranging upwards of several thousand dollars, and though it comes complete with everything you need — if you buy the plans and materials yourself — you can save a lot of money over a wooden sailboat kit. What I found is that the sails and rigging are not included in the wooden sailboat kit, which makes the price even higher.
You’ve got to remember that if you buy a wooden sailboat kit, you will be paying shipping on all those materials, which will just up the cost of your project. Personally, I think it’s much easier to buy the plans and purchase the materials yourself, it’s a form of quality control that I prefer. Then I know exactly the materials I’m getting.
When I dove further into the search online, I found that you can usually buy one set of plans for about $200-$250 — for one boat. The bigger or more advanced the boat, the higher the price of the plans. But what if I wanted to have several plans available. To go with that sailboat, I need a little dinghy to tow behind, so that when I anchor offshore, I’ve got a means to get to shore. This added some complications to what I wanted to do.
Until I found this particular site that made me glad I didn’t give up on searching. I found a site that offers over 200 boat plans and designs, including sailboats. It comes complete with material lists, and lots of extra bonuses for one-fifth the price of just one set of plans! And if I want the plans on DVD instead of downloading them — I can get them that way too!
While buying a wooden sailboat kit seems easier because the only thing you need to do is assemble it – I’d much rather have more control over the materials and products I choose to use then what someone wants to give me. I just need to make sure that I get the right kind of plywood — marine plywood — and marine paint — and everything else is pretty standard.
Why spend money that you don’t have to? That’s my motto and I’m always looking for the best deal — at the best price — that provides the quality that I am looking for. I don’t need to spend several thousands of dollars to get a wooden sailboat kit when I can get over 200 plans and build any boat I want — and much less than if I bought a kit or purchased a new or used sailboat!
It’s all about the quality for me — and when I’m in charge of the building project from start to finish I know exactly the quality that I am getting. It’s a joke around my house — building things myself is my form of quality control!

What’s the Best Way To Build A Sailboat–Buy A Wooden Sailboat Kit or Build It From Scratch Using a Sailboat Plan?
0When I checked out the wooden sailboat kits online I was amazed at how high the prices were — and the kits don’t include the sails and rigging. For a 15′ pocket boat, I found a kit that was $3,400, after adding the rigging, we’re talking upwards of $6,000 for a 15′ wooden sailboat kit. I don’t know what the shipping would be — but I know it won’t be cheap and that price would just go up. That was above the price I wanted to spend.
So I decided to take a different route and I started looking up sailboat plans online instead. What I found shocked me again. For a simple 24′ foot trail-able sailboat (not including the trailer) — the plans cost $240! That seemed overly expensive to me and that was for just one set of plans.
What if I wanted to build a dinghy to pull behind my sailboat so I could anchor off shore, but have access to shore without getting wet? I could also use the dinghy to row away from my anchored sailboat and find that special fishing spot where the big lunkers like to hang out — and getting a sailboat into that spot might be a little risky.
That’s why I was glad to find this website that offers more than 200 easy boat building construction plans and I can download them directly to my computer or get them sent to me on DVD. What’s really cool is the guy who put these plans together has been building boats for over 20 years — he’s also an excellent wood craftsman and comes from a long line of ancestors who have been building boats.
His early ancestors were the Vikings and most folks know how well reknown they are for not only their boat building skills, but for traveling to many places in their boats. They are believed to even have discovered America before Columbus, depending on what history books you read.
I like the idea of having a complete library on my computer of any boat I might want to build for less than 1/5 the price of just one sailboat plan. Heck — he’s got plans for cabin cruisers, canoes, dinghys, dorys, duck boats, houseboats, hydros, jon boats, kayaks, small boats, inboard runabouts, paddle boats, paddle wheel boats, fishing boats, outboard runabouts, rowboats, sailboats, ski boats, skiffs, sloops, submarines, surfboards, utility boats, yachts and wooden boats. All this from a guy that has over 20 years of experience building boats.
To me using a kit is the easy way out — and you’re stuck with the products they send. What if they forget something and don’t send you all the pieces — you won’t know unless you check everything you’ve received against the materials list. There’s nothing more frustrating than buying a kit only to find pieces missing. That’s why buying a plan and using its material list to buy my own materials is something that I prefer. It’s my form of quality control. I know what I am getting, because I am buying all the parts myself!
The other thing is this: why spend money you don’t have to? I don’t need to impress anybody by telling them how much something costs. Actually, I prefer to do-it-myself, and impress myself and keep my wife happy with what I am capable of doing. It gives me a secret pleasure knowing that I built something myself from scratch for far less than someone else can buy it new or used or build from a kit. I’ll save the kits for models and toys.
Quality is the critical factor when I build for myself. It’s my form of quality control! If there’s something wrong with what I’ve built, I can fix it myself and I don’t have to get ticked off because someone else screwed up! I enjoy working with my hands and what’s great about that is that my mind clears and I never seem to have any worries when my hands are busy on a project.
I found these great plans that work much better than a wooden sailboat kit. You don’t even have to have woodworking skills to start out, it’s that simple. To find out more visit: YouCanFixItYourself. com Written by Richard A. Hansen
