My child is smitten with a summer job w/ this company. Do the perform as they promise? Can you come home w/ money or is it eaten by the high cost of living? Do they help in a medical emergency? Thanks

They are an established and well respected company in Alaska (at least in Juneau). But the cost of living is high and I doubt they pay a liveable wage. You can expect an experience but not a paycheck. Of course they would help in a medical emergency. ANY Alaskan would. We’re not like down south where people watch each other get hurt and do nothing to help. Helping people out in time of emergency is part of our culture and Alaskans come together like nowhere else on the planet.

How long did it take you to get your assignment? Did they require you to just pick up and leave on a minute’s notice? What is the pay like and what benefits are there (do they pay for housing, travel, insurance?)? Did they take any foreign language skills into consideration when giving you your assignment? Did you find that it was hard to meet locals?
Thanks for returning to repost. I appreciate it!

Has anyone ever worked at Breckenridge ski resort in CO?

Question: Has anyone ever worked at Breckenridge ski resort in CO?
I am moving out to CO in about a month – there is a job fair coming to my area and i would like to go check it out.

I checked out the jobs online, and i am definitely more then qualified for some of the positions ….but i have a sleeve tattoo and dreads. Company standards says that’s a big NO…however most of the company’s i have worked for have had the same conduct.

so is it really that big of a deal?
Could my variety of experience, and great recommendations be enough to hire me anyways?

HELLLP!

depends on the position your going after, it doesn’t take much experience, skill and education to be a lifty, work food service and do many non supervisory jobs at a mountain

If the company says no tattoos and dreads then it could be a big deal, they are probably expecting you to look professional and thats why they don’t want that

You should still apply for the job because it doesn’t take much to get a basic job at a mountain, and if your working outside your hair and tattoos will be covered anyway. If your going for a managerial postion don’t expect to get hired with your current appearence
